GoDaddy, the newest profit whore monger on the internet.

As the Internet evolves, so do the companies that provide services. Today, we discuss the "king whore monger" of profiting, GoDaddy. Everyday, I recieve more and more complaints from various customers that are extremely dissatisfied with the way GoDaddy is handling their accounts. Its bad enough they try to upsell you on every click of their dashboard, but when you call them, oh boy.

Recently, a client emailed me asking why GoDaddy needs to charge a $450 fee over three years to cover their "business classification". I have never heard of such crap. I decided to looked into it. I discovered that GoDaddy is now creating new fees for "made up services." Yes, this is true. There is no need to pay $450 for a "classification" at your domain registrar. There is no mandate from the World Wide Web consortium for your registrar to do anything. No other companies are using deceitful tactics to scrape more money out of your billfold. However, GoDaddy is doing exactly that.

I caution you to be very wary of GoDaddy. It seems that customers are now just a $ and not actually anything else. GoDaddy must think all clients are just too stupid. Again, just speculation. I don't know what's driving this new change at GoDaddy (perhaps an ego bloated, overpaid VP) however, I now and have always advised my clients to only use them as a registrar. In the end, you will pay your $15 a year for domain leasing and that's it. Do not host your website with GoDaddy, do not host your DNS with GoDaddy, do not host your email at GoDaddy. That is my recommendation from years of experience in dealing with various companies on the web. There are so many better choices out there. While these other companies may not be able to afford "excessively abundant" women on Superbowl halftime commercials, at least they will not fabricate new "billing" like we see with GoDaddy.
